Summary
[Performance Introduction] Every Monday in 2026, Lee Cheol-jin's Seungmu Story 〈Only Seungmu〉 unfolds at the Sungkyun Small Theater in Daehak-ro. Seungmu is a representative masterpiece of Korean traditional dance, a dance possessing a high level of aesthetics that embodies both the spirituality of Buddhist practice and the inner emotions of humanity. The delicate lines drawn by the jangsam, the restrained breathing and rhythms, and the aesthetics of jeongjungdong (stillness in motion) create a world of deep contemplation and life force that explodes within the silence. This stage features Seungmu through the profound interpretation of Lee Cheol-jin, a dancer who continues the authentic lineage of Han Seong-jun, Han Yeong-suk, and Lee Ae-ju. Having walked the single path of Seungmu for decades, he fully unfolds the philosophy and the density of time inherent in the dance upon the stage. The traces of accumulated practice and his inner strength as an artist are revealed in every single movement and every single breath. Conducted as an open-run performance, 〈Only Seungmu〉 offers audiences a special time to face their own inner selves through the resonance of movement echoing within the silence.
