Overview
The Yeungnam University Museum, located within Yeungnam University in Gyeongsan-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, first opened its doors at the Daegu Daemyeong-dong campus and was newly constructed and relocated to the Gyeongsan campus in 1989, featuring one basement level and two ground floors. It is equipped with 11 exhibition halls and storage facilities. The museum was established to contribute to the research of related materials and to promote the transmission and development of local culture as well as the advancement of human culture by comprehensively collecting, preserving, and exhibiting materials in the fields of domestic history, archaeology, art, folklore, and anthropology, including Silla and Gaya culture materials excavated from the Daegu and Gyeongsan areas. The museum possesses approximately 24,000 artifacts received through donations or collected through excavation, boasting excellence in both quantity and quality. Furthermore, it actively carries out community service through various social education programs. The museum conducts a wide range of programs, such as offering cultural lectures, operating intern researchers and museum docents, opening educational courses linked to special exhibitions, and running "Humanities on the Road" for local elementary and middle school students.
